The Carpet Binding Co was founded by Dermot O’Mahony, who grew up in the furniture and flooring industry. With a strong family heritage in the trade, Dermot developed a deep understanding of quality materials, craftsmanship, and customer service from an early age.
The O’Mahony family’s connection to the industry began with Dermot’s grandfather, Denis, who started the family furniture business. The business was later continued by Dermot’s father and family, carrying forward a tradition of hard work, experience, and dedication to quality. Today, the Denis O’Mahony business continues to operate under the third generation, maintaining the same commitment to craftsmanship and service.
Following in their footsteps, Dermot spent years working as a flooring installer, gaining valuable hands-on experience fitting carpets and flooring in homes and businesses. Through this work, he recognised the growing demand for professional carpet binding and custom finishing services.
This experience led him to establish The Carpet Binding Co, a business dedicated to transforming carpet offcuts and remnants into beautifully finished rugs, stair runners, and custom pieces.
Our workshop is based in South Donegal, where every piece is carefully finished to ensure a precise, durable, and professional result.
